Literacy topics from now until Christmas:

In literacy this half term we will focusing on 2 books, Little Red Riding Hood and The Magic Porridge Pot. In the next half term we will be focusing on Paddington Bear and Katie Morag.

Maths topics from now until Christmas:

In numeracy this term, our focus is counting and understanding numbers.  We will be looking at reading, writing and saying numbers. We will also be looking at partitioning 2 digit numbers.

Curriculum topics from now until Christmas:

Our first curriculum topic is Is there a place where dreams come true? Within this topic we will be looking at fairy tales and castles.

Our second curriculum topic will be based on England. We will look at our area and compare it to different areas around the UK.

News from the Staff:

All the children have settled into Year 1 extremely well.

What parents can do to support their child:

It is important that you read with your child every day and sign to say this has happened. Spellings will also take place on Friday mornings. If your child gets 5 / 6 correct, your child will move on to the next set of spellings.

You can also support your child at home but completing their weekly Learn Its and select a choice of activities from the homework menu to complete over the half term.

Additional Information

Our PE day is FRIDAY AM – Please ensure your child’s PE kit is in school and is left in school at all times.
